Richard Daintree was a pioneering Australian geologist and photographer. He was the first Government geologist for North Queensland discovering gold fields and coal seams for future exploitation. Daintree went on to be Agent-General for Queensland in England and oversaw significant exhibitions of his photographs. We have updated our entries on Daintree on our website – click here

Not too long ago I was handed a letter written by John Kauffmann (Australian photographer 1864–1942). This personal correspondence offered a different insight into the personality of this significant Australian photographer. Wesley Stacey died Bega Hospital 9 February 2023. My first meeting with photographer Wesley Stacey was at his Annandale home in Sydney 1974. He was already well known and recognised as one of the most tuned in figures of the new art photography scene.
