Today we ventured out into the rain (it did stop for most of the walk) and enjoyed the views, birds and sounds of the water along several kilometres of the nearby section of the Darebin Creek Tail.
It says online that the full trail is about 25kms long.
We walked for about an hour — except for when we were sheltering under the bridge at Livingstone Street.
This is just one of the many wonderful experiences we are enjoying since we moved to Melbourne in December 2023. So much more to do!
Here are a few more photographs:
Just in case I had not said it before — we are enjoying Melbourne!!
We loved Melbourne too when we were there 20 years ago. I guess much changed now? Hope the great markets are still there?
I want to put a wonderful artist and carbon printer in touch with you. Katayoun Dowalatshahi. She made amazing carbon prints from the original tri-colour negs for a 2023 Madame Yevonde exhibition at the NPG. Hugely talented & a lovely person too. Of Iranian extraction but grew up in UK.
She has a commission in Sydney, I think. I’ll get the details sorted shortly & send to you. I told Katayoun I only knew the best people in Australia & would put her in touch. So that’s you, Judy Annear & Alistair Foster.
And Joanna Sassoon although I don’t think I have a current email for her. Do you? And don’t know what she is doing these days.
Just got back from seeing a remastered version of Kubrick’s “Barry Lyndon” which I used to think was my favourite film but 3.5 hours later, I am not so sure.
We are splitting our time between Bath & London these days. Been renting a small flat in London for 8 years now.
Loving it but London may eventually be too much for us.
Will send you more details of Katayoun’s project soon.
Love to you & Paul,
Pamxx
Hi Pam There is a lot of Melbourne that thankfully missed several waves of redevelopment we are loving just seeing old buildings textures of brick stone wood etc that were not part of the Canberra environment being such a relatively recent city. I saw your substack and think I subscribed but Im not too saavy re blogs. cheers Gael
