I have researched and uploaded a piece about one of Axel Poignant’s favourite photographs, Mount Warning 1953. This led me into research about ring-barked trees and how artists have portrayed the dramatic change to the Australian landscapes — that may be the subject of another piece one day soon.
Meanwhile here’s the piece on this photograph — that is in our collection.

I have uploaded an online version of the catalogue for the 1982 retrospective exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW — Axel Poignant, photographs 1922–1980. Click here.
