CONCLUSION
A different concept of the artist and what constitutes creativity and artistry needed to be developed before an unmanipulated form of photography (like Naturalism) could be viewed as art.
By demonstrating and promoting the virtues of "seeing photographically" at the moment of exposure, Laurence Le Guay removed the emphasis of the photographic image's claim to creativity from its originality as a hand-crafted print.
The reproducibility of a photograph is not a hindrance to its consideration as art—the artistry is in the "capturing" of the image.
